Another project from the Brooklyn emcee looks to be on the way.
UPDATE (April 30, 2020): Medhane has dropped off a new visual for his latest single “Allegedly” produced by Chuck Strangers. The music video tours different neighborhoods of a pre-quarantined Brooklyn and comes with the announcement that a new project presumably titled COLD WATER is set to drop in the near future. Watch the video above and stream the single below. In related news, Medhane starred in frequent collaborator MIKE‘s new visual for “Fortune Teller” and Sage Elsesser (frequently known as Navy Blue) delivered “No Foolin’ (Post Panic: Prelude)” earlier today.
ORIGINAL STORY (April 28, 2020): Brooklyn rapper turned producer (under his pseudonym AFB) Medhane has returned with new music following his experimental self-produced effort FULL CIRCLE back in February. Now he’s teamed up with Chuck Strangers for the new single “Allegedly” out today via Soundcloud and Bandcamp.
The beat harkens back to some serious book-bap of the backpack era with a luxurious string section sampled in the background. Medhane’s ever-increasing charisma and confidence is on full display here as he raps, “Leave you stranded, upper-hand it, stretch the canvas, changed the answers/ Ni**as can’t figure me out, ask me how i’m gettin to that shit in a drought/ Brodie jus copped him a 40 with the clip sticking out/ On road ni**as switching the route/ Touched some paper need them bigger amounts.”
“I feel like I did a lot of my growing up outside of New York. Personal development,” Medhane told HYPEBEAST in the latest episode of Conversations With. “I was in Senegal for seven months by myself with a host family. I just be taking pieces that I come across that I f*ck with and when I come back to New York I have a different perspective. In New York most people are fly, everybody got drip. Places I was at, it was not like that. When you come back and you meet up with people who have been here really doing their sh*t, it’s like ‘word, I see what you’re on, they see what I’m on,’ and recognize the different influences you have.”
Listen to “Allegedly” below and stay tuned for more from Medhane in the near future. In other music updates, JPEGMAFIA released Episode 8 of his How to Build a Relationship series.
