Kaytranada's "Need It" Sparks a Dance Battle in New Music Video
Featuring UV-lighting reminiscent of Hype Williams’ ‘Belly.’
Kaytranada returns with a new music video for “Need It” featuring rising singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Masego. The song was a standout from BUBBA, a project that dropped late last year after nearly four years of waiting since the producer’s critically acclaimed 99.9% debut.
Director Andre Bato shot the narrative with UV lighting that definitely brings Hype Williams’s 1998 film Belly to mind. Two rival groups stand-off in what first starts as a fist fight but then, thanks to Kaytranada’s role as a DJ in the neon blue-tinged nightclub, turns into an intense choreographed dance battle. “Need It” follows the nostalgic Soul Train-inspired “10%” music video with Kali Uchis.
