Abby Jasmine and Guapdad 4000 Deliver New "Groovy" Music Video
Going from an apartment recording session to internet sensation in a single video.
Abby Jasmine has teamed up with Guapdad 4000 to deliver the first single from her upcoming Who Cares EP, which slated to release on April 20. As Abby tells it, “Groovy” wasn’t originally supposed to be her song, but she liked the reference track she recorded so much that she kept it all to herself.
Fresh off the super hero-inspired video for “On My Way”, Abby continues to showcase her originality and charisma by tapping Guapdad for fun anthem, poking fun at going viral, inking a record deal and the inevitable features that follow.
“The way ‘Groovy’ came together was an amazing, long process. I was writing for some other artists like a year ago and laid down the reference. It wasn’t much but I liked the beat and idea so much I kept the song myself,” Abby told HYPEBEAST. “I knew Guap for a little while and I love his music so when it came to finding a feature he was definitely my first choice. Mike [Smiegel] had directed my video for ‘On My Way’ and I loved working with him so much I was like, ‘Nah, you gotta direct my next sh*t.’ Then Guap flew in and we shot the vid — it was mad Hennessy on set. Everyone on set was so easy and fun to work with, it didn’t even feel like we were shooting a video. Overall a 10/10 experience.”
