Earlier this week, Skepta, Chip, and D-Block Europe’s Young Adz announced a collaborative project titled Insomnia, sharing that the album would be releasing on March 27. After dropping off the record’s lead single “Waze” alongside an accompanying music video, the three-piece has now released Insomnia in its entirety.

The reigning OG of the UK grime and rap scene, Skepta, makes for a tantalizing pairing alongside Tottenham rapper Chip and fast-rising up-and-comer Young Adz, both of which have proven capable of demanding their careers’ newfound emphases. The album itself remains a stark blend of London’s riotous grime scene and the country’s fresh appreciation for hip-hop, blending the two genres into a revitalizing take on UK’s rap sound.

Much of this is meshing is reflected in the wide-ranging producer credits, which taps US-based production heavyweights like Cardo (Drake, Travis Scott, Kendrick Lamar) and Money Montage (Rae Sremmurd, Rich the Kid), with UK-based beatsmiths DaBeatFreakz, The FaNaTix (Nicki Minaj, Giggs, Popcaan), Sevaqk (Dave, D Double E), Scott Styles (Young Thug, G Herbo, Stormzy), and more also being involved. On the album, Skepta seemingly dives further into hip-hop music’s hold, doing so without sacrificing his signature hard-nosed grime bars. Chip offers up his characteristic drill delivery, with Young Adz contrasting the others’ more orthodox UK flows with higher-pitched autotune.
