Maison Margiela Reworks Future Sneaker Into Sandal Form
The iconic silhouette slims down for the summer season.
Maison Margiela dominated the footwear landscape during the 2010s with its retro sci-fi Future sneaker, gracing the feet of everyone from Kanye West to Post Malone in his now-iconic visual for “White Iverson.” With the silhouette becoming a footwear staple for many tied to the fashion world, the French brand has now reworked the model into a luxurious sandal form that’s ready for the summer months ahead.
The new Leather Future Sandals are offered up in either all-white or all-black colorways and has been constructed from buffed Nappa leather. The design features an open square toe and adjustable padded leather straps at the vamp and ankle featuring the silhouette’s Velcro fastening system. Other details include the brand’s signature white stitch branding and a leather pull-loop at the heel tab. The two iterations are finished off with a molded leather footbed and a tonal treaded rubber sole.
