KAPITAL Crafts American G.I.-Inspired J-WAVE Souvenir Jacket
Featuring a map of popular surfing destinations in Japan.

Shortly after unveiling its sleek MA-1 Sneakers, KAPITAL has returned with another military-inspired statement piece from its SS20 lineup. This time around, the Japanese label has crafted quilted souvenir jackets that have been detailed with intricate embroidery — the Velveteen J-WAVE Souvenir Jacket in “Pink” and “Black.”
Coming with a boxy fit, raglan sleeves and flat collars, the jacket sees a distinctive two-part design. It boasts smooth nylon diamond quilting at the front, contrasted by delicate velour fabrics at the back. Highlighted at the front is a bright iridescent sheen, complemented by caramel-colored buttons, solid-toned welt pockets and striped piping that run along the edges of the jacket.
At the back is a rough map of Japan, labelling a variety of different spots that are ideal for surfing — what American G.I.s often sought out during their downtime when stationed in the country. The word “Surf” is emblazoned at the top in a cursive font, just below the back of the collar, while “Japan” is etched at the bottom, upside-down. As a finishing note, both sleeves are embellished with bright golden-yellow floral embroidery, starting around the upper arms and ending near the forearms, demonstrating KAPITAL’s penchant for well-considered craftsmanship.
KAPITAL’s Velveteen J-WAVE Souvenir Jacket is currently available at KAPITAL’s website for $662 USD.
