Last year, KAPITAL dropped a pair of black MA-1 Sneakers emblazoned with a bold Smiley face motif at the heel. Now, the Japanese label has opted for a more understated approach, bringing back the silhouette in four colorways, this time without any motifs to emphasize the focus on its unique flight jacket-inspired design — coming in colors of olive, black, navy and burgundy.
Dominated by a sleek nylon finish, the silhouette boasts a low-cut construction with parts that resemble details of a classic MA-1 bomber jacket. Starting at the top of the shoe is a tongue guard that mimics an arm patch, equipped with two metal zippers on each side. The inner layer beneath the guard comes with a woven “KAPITAL” label done in mil-spec stylization. Apart from the tongue, other military-inspired design cues include the quilted sidewalls and toebox, complemented by bright rescue orange highlights placed at the shoe’s inner lining as well as the midsole. As a finishing touch, the shoe comes with a suede heel counter and toecap for textural contrast.
The KAPITAL MA-1 Sneakers are currently available at KAPITAL’s website for $223 USD.
