Chris Evans Stars in Apple TV+'s New Series 'Defending Jacob'
The former Captain America defends his son on murder charges.
Captain America actor Chris Evans has gone from saving the world to saving his son as assistant district attorney Andy Barber in Apple TV+‘s limited series Defending Jacob. In the trailer above, the show (based on William Landay’s 2012 novel) follows Barber defending his 14-year old son (Jaeden Martell) who is accused of murder.
The official plot synopsis reads:
“A gripping, character-driven thriller based on the 2012 New York Times best-selling novel of the same name, and starring Chris Evans, Michelle Dockery, Jaeden Martell, Cherry Jones, Pablo Schreiber, Betty Gabriel and Sakina Jaffrey. The limited drama series unfolds around a shocking crime that rocks a small Massachusetts town and one family in particular, forcing an assistant district attorney to choose between his sworn duty to uphold justice and his unconditional love for his son.”
J.K. Simmons can be seen in the trailer, as well as Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery, who plays Andy’s wife. The series marks Evans’ first leading role post-Marvel and reveals one of Apple TV+’s biggest scores in terms of star power. Evans now joins Hollywood heavy-hitters like Stephen Speilberg and Tom Hanks who have signed on to produce upcoming content for the platform.
