In celebration of the new Sonic the Hedgehog movie, Shoe Surgeon and PUMA have teamed up for a handcrafted silhouette inspired by the anthropomorphic blue hedgehog’s recognizable footwear. Dressed in familiar red, white and gold tones, the shoes nod to Sonic’s signature blinding speed and are constructed in bespoke fashion using high-quality materials for a build that would make Dr. Eggman jealous.
Limited to a scant five pairs, Sonic’s Surgeon-created kicks feature a designed-from-scratch upper that mixes two red leathers with mesh. Using a bold sheen on the forefoot and a high-gloss patent on the heel, both types of leather add extra red tones and textures to the slip-on sock base. A white leather strap reaches across the midfoot for lockdown, and the only piece of branding is provided by a yellow PUMA tongue tab.
Although the upper is completely original, the white midsole is inherently familiar: it’s drawn directly from the RS-X line. The look is rounded off by way of a custom insole with high-octane Sonic motifs and lightning bolt embellishments.
The Shoe Surgeon x PUMA Sonic shoes are a promotional item and will not see a retail release, but you can catch Sonic the Hedgehog in theaters come February 14.
