SWEETLIMEJUICE Embraces Asymmetry in "Split" SS20 Collection
Inspired by Gordon-Matta Clark’s artwork from 1974.
East London-based jewelry label SWEETLIMEJUICE has unveiled its SS20 collection. Launched in 2018, the brand was founded by London College of Fashion graduates Simpson Ma and Jovy Hon, creating jewelry with a distinctive spin on traditional techniques. Each piece that comes out of the label’s atelier is handcrafted from .925 sterling silver from sustainable sources. Dubbed “Split,” the SS20 lineup was inspired by American artist Gordon-Matta Clark’s work Splitting from 1974.
Featured are a series of necklaces, rings, earrings, bracelets and other accessories, characterized by striking asymmetrical designs. One noteworthy piece is the “Half-Crucifix Signet Denim Oval Necklace,” with a large blue cubic zirconia pendant. As its name suggests, every pendant has been handsewn and wrapped with denim, making each piece unique. It comes with a chain made in a cable-style link on one side and beaded on the other, sectioned by a split cross.
Another highlight is the “Silver Denim Octagonal Choker/Shoe Chain.” The piece boasts a dark amber jewel with a wide choker belt that can either be worn as a necklace or a shoe chain that wraps around the ankle and the shoe’s lower midsection. Other pieces like the “Split Signet Mixed Chains Bracelet,” “Split Stone Single Earring” and “Gradient Effect Silver Sport Glasses” round up the concise assemblage, demonstrating a refined spin on meticulously handcrafted jewelry.
SWEETLIMEJUICE’s “Split” SS20 Collection is currently available at the label’s webstore as well as on Brown’s website, ranging from $227 – $711 USD.
