Nike SB GTS Return Appears In Air Max 1-Inspired "Sport Red"
A nod to the AM1’s most famous colorway.

Nike SB has been using its GTS Return as a homage to classic Nike Sportswear models this season, and the latest commemorative style to appear is an Air Max 1-inspired “Sport Red.” Following closely behind an Air Safari-adjacent makeup, this sporty GTS Return takes its colorblocking directly from the “Varsity Red” launch colorway of Tinker Hatfield‘s seminal 1987 AM1, the first ever sneaker with a visible Air unit.
This commemorative skate shoe features an upper made from a trifecta of materials: white mesh plus soft grey and vivid red suedes. The former serves as the base layer, while the middle is used for midfoot overlays and the latter provides flair on mudguards, heel pieces and midfoot Swooshes. More red is present on the top duo of plastic eyelets and heel’s branded text hit, while the GTS Return tongue tag takes on an Air Max 1-style shape to truly drive its inspiration home. Down below a white rubber midsole with embossed SB branding and a black outsole with a circular traction pattern complete the look.
The Nike SB GTS Return “Sport Red” recently released at retailers like Premier and was priced at $85 USD. It’s since sold out, but will likely pop up at various SB stockists over the course of the month.
