Already undeniable classics, Vans‘ Era and Slip-On are now getting reworked in conceptual fashion for a new “Origami Pack.” Consisting of three Eras and one Slip-On, each design in the quality quartet maintains its signature shape on the base layer but adds abstract overlays constructed from unexpected materials.
The trifecta of Eras presents wildly divergent looks. Speaking the loudest of the bunch is a white/black suede pair that’s overlaid with a sizable slab of purple croc skin on the forefoot and a strip of pink suede across the heel. Refusing to be outdone, a standard checkerboard style is swathed in supple black leather. Not pictured is a monochromatic black iteration with pony hair hides. Meanwhile, the Slip-On inverses the style used on the Era, equipping a simple black base and overlaying it with classic checkerboard leather.
Each of these cut-out pieces adds striking abstract style, making for a look that’s skate shoe and DIY art project in one. All four pairs are completed by a low-slung midsole and a signature vulcanized Vans waffle outsole.
Save for the all black Era, the Vans “Origami Pack” is available in its entirety on the brand’s webstore, with each pair priced at $75 USD.
This isn’t the only checkerboard that’s getting checked off this spring: the legendary Slip-On “Fast Times at Ridgemont High“ is set to make its retail debut this March after first releasing as a promo item nearly 40 years ago.
