King Krule Drops Spacey, Disorienting "Cellular" Music Video
The latest single from ‘MAN ALIVE!’
Following the recent “Alone, Omen 3” clip, King Krule serves up another music video for his upcoming album, MAN ALIVE!. Animated and directed by Jamie Wolfe, the clip is as spacey as the accompanying single.
Wolfe’s résumé includes work for Gucci and Rick and Morty, and he brings his freewheeling, illustrative style to the “Cellular” music video. Illustrative figures — occasionally recalling the Blue Meanies from The Beatles’ Yellow Submarine – swirl amidst staticky backdrops and tilting cell towers. The track itself is driving and bass-heavy, accompanying Krule’s trademark drawl with electronic squiggles, guitar strums and pealing tones.
