King Krule Debuts New "Alone, Omen 3" Video, Reveals Album Release Date
His third album, ‘MAN ALIVE!’ releases later this month.
King Krule releases the second single from his upcoming third studio album MAN ALIVE! with the new music video for “Alone, Omen 3,” co-directed by close friend Jocelyn Anquetil and the artist himself, Archy Marshall.
The visual delves into themes of interconnectivity and loneliness, displaying unanswered phones ringing and multiple cut-scenes of strangers alone, awaiting a response from their mobile devices. The cinematography is accented with drab color-grading, scenes full of people staring somewhere off into the distance and the 25-year-old artist draped in an oversized pastel blue suit surrounded by only reflections of himself in an endless house of mirrors. The video ends with the protagonist strolling away on a beach at dusk, holding his newborn daughter and walking beside his partner.
“I felt like I had gotten out of a dark place, and I was on a high. I appreciated the depression, but I also liked how I felt better in the here and now,” Archy explained in a press release about the inspiration for his latest music video.
“Alone, Omen 3” first debuted back in November 2019 through King Krule’s ambitious 16-minute ‘Hey World!’ short film. The minimalist black and white visual for “(Don’t Let The Dragon) Draag On” music video followed back in January, revealing the singer-songwriter burning at the stake beneath a full moon.
“More and more,” he explains via a press release, “I’ve been put off by the intention of speaking about what’s going on in society as a black-and-white thing, or trying to get to the bottom of why we’re in this position. So the album is mostly made up of snapshots and observations. There are a lot of real-time-and-place moments, songs talking about walking through the park just over there and getting a head injury – then there are other tracks which are just simplicity, looking at one particular situation and reflecting on it as somehow being super-profound.”
