Nike LeBron 17 "James Gang" Nods To LeBron James's Family
The King shows love to his court.
A king is nothing without his court, so Nike Basketball is saluting LeBron James‘s beloved family with a new LeBron 17 “James Gang.” Drawing its moniker from an affectionate nickname LeBron bestowed upon his immediate family — wife Savannah, daughter Zhuri and sons Bronny and Brice Maximus, both rising basketball stars in their own right — the “James Gang” also offers a whimsical, fun-loving colorway.
Battleknit uppers are split between a stark black tone and marbled multicolor accents, with the former mostly used on the toebox while the latter is densely concentrated on the textured heel. The throat and tongue are rife with detailing as well, presenting LeBron’s signature LJ logo, an embroidered “James Gang” hit in a cartoon font and pinstriped piping on the tongue’s trim.
Crown detailing is twofold as well, with the high-cut collar and Swoosh-equipped translucent plastic heel clip each using jagged edges for a regal textured nod to the Los Angeles Lakers forward’s nickname. Although mostly hidden, insoles get in on the fun by way of a printed graphic that nods to LeBron’s 17th season and features a stylized take on his Dunkman logo.
Finally, powerful performance is guaranteed by a white midsole that’s split between Zoom Air in the forefoot and a boisterous purple Air Max unit in the heel, equipped with neon green and red speckles for a Nerf-esque look. This combination offers a masterful combination of impact protection and adaptive court feel, both necessities for a versatile player like LeBron who spends equal amounts time soaring through the air and running the floor.
The Nike LeBron 17 “James Gang” will release at retailers like Foot Locker and Renarts come February 21, and is priced at $200 USD.
