Fashion Geek and PUMA Drop Colorful Basketball-Inspired Collection
Striking neon tones abound on basketball-inspired footwear and apparel.
After officially announcing a partnership with J.Cole, PUMA has tapped Chicago-based Fashion Geek for a collaborative collection. Centered around two new takes on the Sky Modern and also offering a set of basketball-inspired apparel, the offerings are awash in vivid neon tones and feature bold alternate branding.
A new PUMA Hoops shoe that draws from memorable ’80s styles, the Sky Modern is presented in vibrant “Safety Yellow” or “High Risk Red.” Each style offers an ultra-high cut secured with a collar strap that cleverly wraps around and descends into the lateral side’s Formstripe. Performance features like ProFoam cushioning, high-abrasion outsoles and a supportive plastic heel clip bring substance to the style. Signature detail arrives on the heel thanks to a trifecta of leaping PUMA cats in blue, yellow and green. This matches the outsole’s mix of hues, and both colorways are finalized by a co-branded tongue tag.
Apparel includes hoodies, sweats and tees that play off the aforementioned multi-color cat logo’s shades and graphics. Select pieces add special details like stars and NBA All-Star patches. There’s also a retro short-sleeve shooting shirt with a bold “GEEK” motif running down the chest.
“After building Fashion Geek for over 15 years, it’s become just as synonymous with Chicago as basketball. It’s only right that we collaborated with PUMA for this 2020 All-Star collection. I’m humbled and grateful to have a partner that recognizes my work and wants to showcase it to the world. This collection is bold, solid and fly just like me and my city,” said Alonzo Jackson, Fashion Geek founder and designer.
The Fashion Geek x PUMA collection is available now on the PUMA webstore, with prices ranging from $50-130 USD.
Moving on, Breaking Bad and K-Swiss have presented three new takes on the Classic 2000, inspired by recognizable outfits and locations from the show.
