'Breaking Bad' & K-Swiss Cook Up Potent Footwear Collection
New “Cooking” & “Cleaning” styles of the K-Swiss Classic 2000 alongside a previously-released “Recreational Vehicle.”
Breaking Bad and K-Swiss are continuing a collaborative partnership that began in 2019 with three takes on the Classic 2000, all inspired by key themes from the show: “Cooking,” “Cleaning” and the previously released “Recreational Vehicle.” With AMC in the middle of a heavy Breaking Bad programming set including El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie, the Better Caul Saul Season 5 premiere and a marathon of every Breaking Bad episode, this trifecta of styles should strike the fancy of seasoned chefs and amateur cooks alike.
A “Cooking” makeup inspired by the yellow hazmat suits Walter White and Jesse Pinkman used to cook up their crystalized creations leads things off. Although a simple white Classic 2000 serves as the base, its upper is completely ensconced in a yellow ripstop sheath for a nod to to one of the show’s most recognizable hues. This is equipped with a throat zipper and a grey/pink heel buckle plus signature Breaking Bad graphics on the rear lateral side. White midsoles and icy blue outsoles complete the look.
As Walt and Jesse moved from a smaller operation to Gustavo’s super lab, their uniforms mostly changed with their setting — a shift nodded to by the “Clean.” Although the overall shape and silhouette are the same, the shroud swaps out its yellow for a rich rubberized orange, an acknowledgement of the high-tech operation the two cooks spearheaded. This features a black zipper, grey/black heel tab and the same Breaking Bad logo stamp on the heel.
Last but not least is the re-release of the “Recreational Vehicle,” a shoe that debuted in 2019. With a retro cream color and bold stripe inspired by Jesse Pinkman’s stolen RV — the first “lab” that he and Walt “cooked” in — it also equips a debossed Breaking Bad logo on its tongue and comes packaged in a special bullet hole-riddled box, nodding to a famous scene from the show’s first season.
The entire Breaking Bad x K-Swiss Classic collection will release at retailers like Foot Locker on February 20, with prices ranging from $80-90 USD.
