Naked & Famous Delivers Mutated Denim in 'The Toxic Avenger' Capsule
Referencing the ’80s B-Movie and comic throughout.
Pioneer of Japanese denim Naked & Famous has collaborated with Troma films for capsule collection spotlighting the ’80s B-Movie cult-classic, The Toxic Avenger.
The capsule is comprised of Japanese denim jeans and a trucker jacket, aptly named “Toxic Avenger Deformed Denim,” and sports a combination of Naked & Famous’ usual playful design motifs and various references to the film, comic and cartoon series.
In the spirit of the satirical superhero franchise, denim jeans have been mutated and twisted in three unique forms: a left-hand twill, a right-hand twill, and a broken twill. Slub yarns have been used to give textured ridges to the finished product, while toxic-green tinted interior yarns have been implemented so that, once truly worn in, a nod to The Toxic Avenger will appear.
Elsewhere, Naked & Famous add pink pocket bags printed with archived comic book strips to the jeans, as well as a vegetable-tanned leather patch that sports the fictional creature and rear-pocket embroidery depicting the monster itself. For the jacket, the imprint adds a large rear chenille patch that is embroidered with the phrase “I’VE BEEN TROMA-TIZED,” which sits alongside The Toxic Avenger‘s face.
