New Era Pays Homage to Cherry Blossom Season With "Sakura" Hat Collection
Offered in three silhouettes.

Springtime is already making its way around the corner and while the season naturally brings out florals of all varieties, it specifically presents a time for Japan and countries around the world to celebrate the cherry blossom. The delicate pink flower has long represented the concept of transformation and rejuvenation in Japan — where it is officially known as the sakura — and for Spring/Summer 2020 hat staple New Era is honoring the blossom with a three-piece headwear collection named after the peachy bloom.
Featuring the 9FIFTY, 59FIFTY and 9FORTY AF trucker hats, the assortment is distinguished by floral embroideries and offered in black and white colorways for each style. The classic 59FIFTY is patched with the traditional NY Yankees logo on the front, while a sprinkle of cherry blossoms frame the popular baseball emblem. Meanwhile, the flower takes more of the spotlight on the 9FIFTY and 59FIFTY editions, both of which feature a solid-colored front panel for a sleek design. Each style is finished off with New Era’s signature flag patch for branding.
The 59FIFTY fitted, 9FIFTY snapback, 9FORTY AF trucker all retail for $399 HKD (approximately $50 USD) each and are expected to launch in the near future at New Era’s webstore.
Elsewhere for New Era, the label recently teamed up with Supreme on a new varsity jacket.
