Arizona Rap Trio Injury Reserve Returns with Saxophone-Heavy Single "Hoodwinked"
The second single following last year’s self-titled album.
Arizona rap trio Injury Reserve comprised of rappers Ritchie With a T, Stepa J. Groggs and producer Parker Corey, made some major waves in the music industry last year with the release of the group’s self-titled Injury Reserve record. They followed up their uncompromising 13-tracks by enlisting friends JPEGMAFIA and Code Orange for “HPNGC”, an offering that saw their continuous experimentation pair perfectly with the Maryland rapper’s own energy. Now the group returns with “Hoodwinked,” a song that will immediately demand your attention thanks to a shrill, ear-perking saxophone loop by featured guest Simeon May.
“Music-wise, we always think to approach it as always wanting to bring something new to the table,” Ritchie With a T told HYPEBEAST during last year’s Streetsnaps: Injury Reserve interview. That mindset perfectly encapsulates the latest loosie, as the polarizing saxophone accompanies some booming bass in an antagonizing, confrontational effort that finds Injury Reserve right where they’re most comfortable. Homages to the big bad wolf and King Kong abound. Stream “Hoodwinked” below and in more music news, listen to Lil Gotit’s new mixtape, Superstar Creature.
