A $6.6M USD 1929 Mercedes-Benz 710 SS Is Now up for Auction
It can even go up to 124 mph.
An incredibly rare pre-war Mercedes-Benz is now available for auction over at Artcurial.
One of the most sought after vintage cars in the world, the vehicle currently available is a Mercedes-Benz 710 SS, built all the way back in 1929. Aside from its classic, sinuous and elegant aesthetics, the 710 SS also boasted incredible performance for its day, holding a massive 7.1-L inline-six engine with a throttle-controlled supercharger, giving it a whopping 200 horsepower. Coupled with a short-wheelbase, lightweight chassis, the vintage supercar performed exceptionally, pushing a max speed of 124 mph, and eventually inspiring the now-legendary SSK racers.
The current car in particular also has an American heritage, its original chassis being shipped to New York, where its bodywork was created by Fernandez & Darrin, a firm founded by American coachbuilder Howard “Dutch” Darrin, who also crafted bodies for iconic classics such as Hispano-Suiza and Packard.
No doubt a very rare and desirable classic, the 1929 Mercedes-Benz 710 SS is expected to fetch up to $6.6 million USD. Head over to Artcurial to learn more now.
For more vintage cars, RM Sotheby’s is currently auctioning off a 1973 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS.
