'Fortnite' Celebrates Valentine's Day With "Love and War" Event
Official Search and Destroy mode included.
While a previous leak suggesting a Birds of Prey crossover — including a new Harley Quinn skin — still remains unconfirmed, Epic Games nonetheless did not disappoint with Fortnite‘s latest 11.5 update, hosting a new “Love and War” event in celebration of Valentine’s Day.
The event will see the addition of a new limited-time game mode based on a previous “community made” custom: Search and Destroy. Split into two teams of six, with one attacking and one defending side, players will be given various objectives to complete. Attackers will have to destroy a designated bomb site while defenders will have to protect it, but each team can also claim victory simply by eliminating the other team’s players. The first team to reach six victories will win the game. As a bonus, eliminating other players or completing objectives will earn you gold, which can then be used to purchase weapons, shields, and building materials, which all carry over between rounds, until your teams swap sides.
Additionally, there’s also special cosmetic rewards which can be won through limited-time challenges, as well as themed outfits and skins in the game’s store.
Fortnite‘s “Love and War” Valentine’s Day event is now underway, and will last until February 17.
