New Balance and Tokyo-based retailer BILLY’s have unveiled a vibrant new spin on the 1530 and 575 silhouettes. The collaborative models have been decorated with a bold set of contrasting palettes, tinged in retro color schemes that enliven the classic silhouettes — M1530LP and MTL575LP.
First up is the M1530LP. The top of the shoe sees a crisp white tongue, complemented by navy “New Balance” and light blue “MADE IN ENGLAND” embroidery. Dark suede purple accents appear along the collars, upper heel and toebox, offset by subtle hints of light green highlights around the forefoot. Furthermore, New Balance’s double-woven “N” logo is placed at the sidewalls, over navy suede, while a light turquoise heel counter rounds up the colors — all of these features sit atop a crisp white REVLite midsole for optimal cushioning.
The MTL575LP sees a slightly sleeker mold, made up of a mesh, suede and rubber overlays. The top of the shoe boasts a highly detailed tongue tab etched with “575” and a woven motif that nods to the trail-friendly mold of the silhouette. Like the previous model, this sneaker includes light turquoise accents at the heel, complemented by purple mesh and blue suede around the rest of the body. As a final touch, a mustard yellow panel is placed at the sidewalls, detailed with a white “N” logo, while an articulated two-toned MEGAGRIP Vibram sole completes the sneaker’s design.
BILLY’s exclusive New Balance M1530LP and MTL575LP are currently available for pre-order at BILLY’s website for $278 USD and $258 USD, respectively.
Recently, another Japanese-indebted New Balance was given special treatment, as the 1300JP was spotlighted in an ’80s-themed editorial.
