Kiran Kai Drops Off Woozy Single "Evade" Feat. Daisy Maybe
Off his forthcoming debut ‘XYZ’ EP.
Artist, producer and sound extraordinaire Kiran Kai has for the past several years developed his articulate take on experimental R&B, infusing a range of innovative electronics alongside traditional instrumental underlays. After dropping his debut project TRIPS in 2015, the Brixton-born artist found his evolved sound gracing the likes of Skepta, Jordan Rakei, Jesse James Solomon, and more. After just recently releasing a visual for “Missilence,” Kai is now back with a brand new track alongside longtime collaborator Daisy Maybe titled “Evade.”
The single, a part of his forthcoming debut XYZ EP, features co-production from Prinzly and Ben Baptie, offering up Kai’s enigmatic blend of shoegaze, grime, jazz, trip-hop, and more. Contrasting the EP’s intro single “Missilence,” the new track sees Kai’s gravelly vocals being delivered with conscious clarity, whereby Daisy Maybe contrasts with her unorthodox R&B-tinged sound.
You can listen to “Evade” above. XYZ arrives on May 22 via All Points and will feature production from Skepta and Fwdslxsh, writing from Jordan Rakei, and more.
