Arguably one of the strongest silhouettes of the year, the New Balance 992 tops off its impressive 2020 run with a three-piece “Kithmas” collaboration with none other than Ronnie Fieg. This follows right after the Big Apple-based label partnered up with Nike to co-create an apparel and Air Force 1 project for the New York Knicks.
Each variation ushers in the same Christmas-esque color accents to the table, but utilizes them in different dosages. The first of the holiday capsule sees through to a crisp light blue tone that cowls a majority of its suede and upper mesh constructions, and couples this with angelic soles and KITH-branded tongues that offset with a Santa suit-inspired red.
The next offering places burgundy suede overlays atop the throat and mudguards, and sandwiches off-white mid-foot paneling and bright blue “N” insignias in between. Underneath, its cushioned outsole splits down the middle between grey outers towards the rear and white finishes up front.
Last on the list is the certainly the loudest of the bunch. An extra saturated red submerges most of the real estate, and is seated adjacent to snowy white “N” embellishments pebbled leather tongues dunked in muted brown. Sole units here match that of the second-mentioned colorway.
Furthermore, each offering swaps out the traditional “992” hit on the heel for “FIEG” to salute to KITH’s head honcho.
Early access was give to a select few and ended on 12/23, but a wider release is likely on the way via KITH.
