Dave Grohl and Greg Kurstin Deliver Cover of Drake's "Hotline Bling"
As part of the pair’s ongoing Hanukkah Sessions series.
Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl and producer Greg Kurstin have dropped off a cover of Drake‘s 2015 hit, “Hotline Bling.”
The four-minute cut hears Kurstin handle the cover’s synths while Grohl takes lead vocals and drums, also showing off his dance moves to the catchy tune.
This marks the pair’s second offering in their Hannukah Sessions series which, celebrates one Jewish artists for each day of Hanukkah. For those unaware, Drizzy’s mother is Jewish, and he shared in 2012 that he is “a proud Jewish boy.” Speaking to “HYFR” music video director Derrick G, he said, “When I had a Bar Mitzvah back in the day, my mom really didn’t have that much money. We kinda just did it in the basement of an Italian restaurant, which I guess is kinda like a faux pas.”
He continued, “I told myself that if I ever got rich, I’d throw myself a re-Bar Mitzvah. That’s the concept for the video.”
“Hotline Bling” served as the lead single of and a bonus track from the OVO head’s fourth studio album, Views. The track hit No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and gave him two Grammy wins for Best Rap Song and Best Rap/Sung Performance in 2017.
