Blue Ivy Carter Receives First Grammy Nomination at Only Eight Years Old
For her appearance on Beyoncé’s “Brown Skin Girl.”

Blue Ivy Carter has made history as one of the youngest Grammy nominees ever, officially receiving her first ever nod for her participation in Beyoncé’s “Brown Skin Girl.”
According to reports, the Recording Academy updated the Best Music Video nomination for “Brown Skin Girl” to include Blue Ivy and WizKid, who is also credited as a featured artist on the track. Both the Nigerian artist and the eldest child of Beyoncé and JAY-Z were originally not included in the November 2020 nominees announcement.
“Brown Skin Girl” has given Blue Ivy an NAACP Image Award, BET Award (the youngest person to ever receive one) and a Soul Train Award. The track is a cut from Beyoncé’s 2019 soundtrack album The Lion King: The Gift, which accompanied the photorealistic animated remake of The Lion King.
Elsewhere in music, James Blake shared a new EP of covers of Billie Eilish, Frank Ocean and more.
