Dr. Dre Supposedly Working on New Album With Eminem Feature
Is the producer’s elusive ‘Detox’ project finally dropping?
Dr. Dre might be working on a new album with a special guest feature from Eminem.
The news comes from actor and singer-songwriter Page Kennedy, who took to social media to reveal that he’s listened to the elusive album. “This Dr. Dre album sounding [fire]. Hope y’all get to hear,” he wrote in the first tweet, then confirmed Eminem’s contribution to the LP in another tweet responding to a fan who asked when the Missouri-born rapper will be dropping: “Well [Eminem] def on this one lol.”
If released, the LP will serve as a followup to Dre’s third studio album/Straight Outta Compton soundtrack, Compton. Many fans are hoping that the release will be the producer’s scrapped Detox project, which, according to Flying Lotus, was supposedly active in 2019. “It’s real, man. It exists,” FlyLo said in an interview from last year, adding, “The version I heard is the sequel to Compton. It makes sense after Compton, I think. It makes sense, but I like it better than Compton.” ESPN reporter Chris Haynes also reported in 2018 that Dre was “working on a couple songs” from the album, and that he didn’t fully shut down the idea of Detox being shelved forever.
