The Mercedes-Benz EQC 4×4² Is an All-Electric SUV That Can Tackle Any Terrain

Mercedes-Benz‘s latest concept is not for the faint-hearted — its EQC crossover has been given the 4×4² treatment, adding plenty of height, clearance, and off-roading capabilities to the all-electric SUV.
In a similar vein to the Mercedes-Benz G500 4×4², this EQC 4×4² is a car of extremes. From proportions to power and presence, it’s a car unlike many others capable of tackling some of the most daunting off-roading tasks. It now sits around 20cm taller than the standard production model, now offering 293mm of ground clearance in comparison to the standard model’s 140mm.
Furthermore, it is also 58mm taller than a standard G-Class, and it achieves all of this thanks to a heavily reworked suspension. New wheels have been fitted, but in order to make them functional Mercedes-Benz needed to widen the car by 200mm. With its wheel and suspension systems set up for off-roading, the ECQ 4×4² can go fording at depths of up to 40cm, achieve approach and departure angles of 31.8 and 33 degrees respectively, and it will do so with ease thanks to its 408 HP and 562 lb-ft of torque supplied by its dual-motor set-up and 80 kWh lithium-ion battery pack.
Lastly, the Mercedes-Benz EQC 4×4² has been given a custom acoustic system inside and out. The headlights now double as loudspeakers, which play on information taken from the accelerator pedal, speed, or energy recovery rate to produce sounds.
