Kanye West, Chance the Rapper, and Kirk Franklin held a surprise Sunday Service gospel performance late last night, paying tribute to the late Kobe Bryant. Ye honored the late legend, singing “I was driving home/They was leaving your jersey on the freeway, and I just broke down, broke down, broke down.”

Yesterday Ye returned to Twitter before the service, paying respects to Bryant. “Kobe, we love you brother,” he shared. “We’re praying for your family and appreciate the life you’ve lived and all the inspiration you gave.” Chance equally joined the tribute at the Sunday Service gospel, rapping his verse to “Ultralight Beam.” You can watch footage of the moments (captured via Kim Kardashian) below.

Yesterday’s 2020 GRAMMY Awards ceremony had a variety of tributes to Kobe Bryant, who tragically died just hours before in a helicopter crash alongside his daughter, GiGi. Lizzo, Lil Nas X, Alicia Keys, and Boyz II Men, and many others mentioned Kobe during the ceremony at the Los Angeles’ Lakers’ home stadium, the Staples Center.

For more related news, Shaq and Michael Jordan have shared statements regarding the tragic event.
