HUMAN MADE x adidas Stan Smith Receives Global Release Date (UPDATE)

UPDATE (January 27, 2020): After debuting on HUMAN MADE’s webstore and then dropping at the brand’s Kyoto flagship last week, the HUMAN MADE x adidas Stan Smith is now set for a global release on January 30. This news has been accompanied by a full set of official photos, which don’t reveal any previously-unseen details but do give the general public its best look yet at the heart-adorned design.

adidas’s webstore will release the HUMAN MADE Stan Smith on Thursday, January 30 for $140 USD. Check out images above and see the prior articles below for more information on the design.

UPDATE (January 22, 2020): HUMAN MADE has provided an official look at its Stan Smith collaboration after Nigo teased the project in an Instagram video earlier this month. Using a crisp white leather base with green heel accents, the design’s centerpiece arrives on the lateral quarter where the standard perforated Three Stripe graphic is replaced by a signature Human Made heart. The medial side gets in on the co-branded action as well, adding a loving pop of color with a repeating cut-out red heart print. A Stan Smith tongue badge, adidas heel branding, leather sockliner and eggshell white midsole finalize the look.

This HUMAN MADE x adidas Stan Smith will release on the HUMAN MADE webstore come January 25 for ¥15,000 JPY (approximately $136 USD). An in-store release will follow at HM’s Kyoto outpost on January 30.

ORIGINAL STORY (January 15, 2019): After releasing a three-shoe capsule last October, HUMAN MADE and adidas Originals are teaming up again — this time for a new take on the timeless Stan Smith. Teased by HUMAN MADE founder/Japanese streetwear icon Nigo via Instagram, it appears as if the shoe will feature simple-yet-effective modifications, keeping its classic ethos mostly intact.

As seen directly above, the main detail appears to be a perforated HUMAN MADE heart outline on the midfoot, replacing the Stan’s standard punched-out Three Stripe detailing. The original white/green color scheme looks as if it will remain intact as well, making for a subtle-yet-effective remix of one of the most popular adidas sneakers of all time.

This also marks a vast departure from previous HUMAN MADE x adidas collaborations, which have typically leaned on vibrant colors and bold branded hits. However, as this is indeed little more than a first look it’s very possible that the final product may feature more modifications and embellishments. An official release date has not yet been announced, but look for an arrival later this spring or summer.
