Air Jordan 1 Mid "Flashing Lights" Keeps It Funky
By way of a glittering silver upper reminiscent of a disco ball.
Jordan Brand‘s beloved Air Jordan 1 already brings back potent memories of a different era, and now its mid-cut iteration is nodding to the glitz and glamor of late ’70s discos with a Studio 54-ready “Flashing Lights” makeup. Shimmering and swaggering like a disco ball, this Air Jordan 1 Mid offers an eclectic, funky style that’s perfectly in line with its pseudonym.
Constructed entirely of a shiny metallic silver leather, the upper also features cut-out grid patterns that nod to a disco ball’s geometric construction. The throat provides the only full material deviation by equipping a sporty grey mesh, but stark silver patent leather is present on its badge to match the flat patent leather midfoot Swoosh.
The nightclub inspiration isn’t limited to the shoe’s outside: red velvet insoles with gold metallic graphics are a tact acknowledgement of the plush ropes that either prevent or allow entry into a VIP area. Black trim wraps around the collar, with a white midsole and matching black outsole finalizing the look.
Unquestionably one of the loudest Air Jordans to be brought to market in recent memory, the Air Jordan 1 Mid “Flashing Lights” is priced at $125 USD, and will release on Nike SNKRS come February 1.
Elsewhere in the world of Jordan Brand, it’s been announced that Virgil Abloh‘s Off-White™ x Air Jordan 5 will release in pre-school and toddler sizes.
