Denzel Curry returned to his roots in 2019 with the South Florida-inspired ZUU. What followed was a steady stream of singles and music videos from his slowthai collaboration in “Psycho”, to the Flying Lotus-helmed “Black Balloons Reprise” to round out the year. Now Denzel is back for a surprise release titled 13LOOD 1N + 13LOOD OUT MIXX from “the entity known as ZXLTRXN.”

The project, currently only available to stream via YouTube, comes with a message: “Just when you thought it was over for me, just when you thought it’ll be the end of me, just when you thought I wouldn’t come back for another two years… I came to bring you a gift from the higher power of the ULT nation. The entity known as ZXLTRXN is here to give you an invitation to the active mind of a man with multiple personalities. Darkness, Happiness, Past, Present, and Future make their way into this Mixx.” Denzel enlists the likes of Ghostmane, Zillakami, Xavier Wulf and AK of The Underachievers for eight new tracks.

“X [XXXTentacion] was always saying embrace conflict, so I found a way to embrace conflict but at the same time everybody get paid from it,” Denzel Curry revealed to us in our Conversations With profile this past December. “”Cause I’m from the hood you know? Like, I’m from Carol City and my brother was a backyard fighter back in the day before he passed away. The whole wrestling theme came from video games… watching UFC for the majority of my life, that’s where the majority of the conflict comes from. Especially being bullied as a kid, that’s where I get most of my inspiration from.”

Stream the 13-minute 13LOOD 1N + 13LOOD OUT MIXX above and watch our Conversations With: Denzel Curry episode where he talked about coming up in South Florida’s revived hip-hop scene in the 2010s, confrontation, and wrestling at Red Bull Music Festival Atlanta.
