Flying Lotus & Denzel Curry Share Supernatural Visual for "Black Balloons Reprise"
Directed by Jack Begert.
On the back of his global touring schedule, Flying Lotus has returned with a brand new visual for “Black Balloons Reprise” featuring Denzel Curry, a highlight from his sprawlingly inventive album, Flamagra. The third visual to release for the project, following his David Lynch-collaborative “Fire Is Coming” and the Shinichiro Watanabe-directed “More,” sees Jack Begert — known for his work with Kendrick Lamar, ScHoolboy Q, and more — directing the psychedelic visual.
The video follows Curry as he rides around Los Angeles, completing the “Black Balloons” trilogy following the rapper’s “Black Balloons” and “The Blackest Balloon” singles. Shot in high contrast black and white, the supernatural and eerie imagery that echos the two creatives powerful sound. In a recent press release, Begert spoke on the process behind the video: “This is such a special project to me because it’s rare to work with an artist like Flying Lotus that truly has no creative boundaries. The same goes for Denzel. The two of them build such distinctive worlds with their visuals — I had a great time blending them together.”
