Levi's Vintage Clothing Revives Albert Einstein-Inspired Menlo Cossack Jacket
Crafted from 100% Italian sheep leather.

Following behind last year’s brown edition, Levi’s Vintage Clothing has returned with another replica of Albert Einstein’s favored Menlo Cossack jacket. This time around, the brand has opted for a sleek all-black shell, while retaining the same signature elements from the remake that draw from Einstein’s original.
Levi’s first acquired Einstein’s jacket at a Christie’s auction in 2016, taking cues from the retro style to inform the design details for the brand’s referential version. The LVC jacket — described as a stitch-by-stitch reproduction — is crafted from 100% Italian sheep leather and features front button closure, side pockets and a collar. Unlike LVC’s first Einstein repro jacket, the brand opted for a black iteration this go-round, inspired by the concept of Einstein attempting to disguise his signature style.
To add more to the experience, Levi’s partnered with perfume house D.S & Durga to create a scent that imagines what Einstein’s original jacket would have smelled like. The resulting mixture is laced with notes of burley pipe tobacco, papyrus manuscripts, and vintage leather for a warm, musky scent. Rounding out the special-edition package is a replica of the Christie’s auction paddle, complete with eyeholes to further the disguise motif..
LVC’s Einstein Menlo Cossack Jacket, perfume and paddle will be sold together for $1,200 USD, limited to just 500 sets. The set will be available beginning December 4 at select Levi’s stores, as well as at Levi’s website.
Elsewhere, Levi’s recently unveiled its upcoming collaboration with BAPE that will launch exclusively at Sole DXB.
