Grammy-nominated super producer meets rapper 1$T has released a new single and video titled “Velvet” in anticipation of his forthcoming Tokyo Project. Written, produced, and performed by the LA-based artist, “Velvet” came out of a transformative trip to Japan earlier this year, where 1$T recorded the entirety of the forthcoming solo effort. Set to release on December 13, the project totals eight songs, each with a video that hones in on the journey from the multi-platinum artist’s hometown of Atlanta to Tokyo.
The song continues to showcase 1$T’s diversity as an artist, relishing in a silky smooth R&B-centric flow, with relaxed 808s echoing in the backdrop alongside meticulously sampled effects and fills. The video, shot by frequent collaborators Evijan John & Braxton Olita, furthers the song’s transformative vision as 1$T is shown vibing around Tokyo’s neon-lit Kabukichō district.
