Denzel Curry Talks Embracing Conflict, Making Money, and Squaring Off Against Joey Badass
Denzel Curry joins us for our latest ‘Conversations With’ interview.
Florida’s own Denzel Curry sat down with HYPEBEAST around the time of his Zeltron World Wide Red Bull Music event in Atlanta to talk about a myriad of topics, including his battle with Joey Badass in the venue’s wrestling-inspired stage.
During our conversation, Curry also explained his love for wrestling and other full-contact combat sports comes due to his interest in gaming and his older brother’s experiences of backyard fighting. Naturally, this serves as inspiration the artist has evidently carried over to this day, with one of his remixed tracks serving as WWE NXT’s “Takeover: WarGames 2019” theme song. The artist also touched on his penchant to embrace conflict and make money off it at the same time, as well as hip-hop’s obsession with Kurt Cobain and Nirvana. According to the rapper, any figure that dies young and had a factor of relatability automatically become icons in the eyes of the public, as such became of Cobain, and is why upcoming generations gravitate to him so much.
