2 Chainz Pays Tribute to Atlanta's Home Teams with "Falcons Hawks Braves" Video
“Been doin this since ‘95 Air Max, in a Falcons or Hawks or Braves hat.”
It’s been almost a calendar year since 2 Chainz teamed up with A&R LeBron James to deliver his fifth studio album in Rap or Go to the League. The effort stressed the age-old concept that rappers dream of being ballplayers and vice versa, and how both options are seemingly the only two legitimate paths to make it out of poverty. Now 2 Chainz returns with another sports homage, this time to his hometown teams in the Terrius Mykel-directed “Falcons Hawks Braves” music video with production from SoufLorde Papi.
“Pocket deep, scuba dive to the money/ I’m bout to kill the beat, somebody call my attorney/ Said ‘lonely at the top,’ at least I’m wearin’ Rollies/ Yeah, I been the man, on the dead homies.” 2 Chainz delivers some notable punchlines throughout while paying tribute to vintage Air Maxes and Atlanta’s big three professional sports franchises. “I’m number two, you already know I got that lead on me/ Since I don’t sleep, I only f*ck inside my bed, homie/ Beast mode shawty, the big old Rari/ the shoes not Mauri/ I know these my kids, I don’t need Maury.”
The visual comes after 2 Chainz teamed up with rising Savannah, Georgia rapper Quando Rondo for his “Bad Vibe” video and a similarly structured loosie release to round out the end of last year. Watch the full visual above and then revisit 2 Chainz counting his money and delivering some more motivation in his last music video for “Somebody Need To hear This.”
