Off-White™ Celebrates Lunar New Year With Exclusive Capsule Collection
Commemorating the “Year of the Rat.”
A gleaming new decade has arrived with the start of 2020 last week, however the festive Chinese New Year celebration is still just around the corner. Brands worldwide including Gucci, BAPE, Converse and more have already begun commemorating the annual observance with themed capsules and limited-edition gifts, and the Virgil Abloh-helmed Off-White™ is the latest to offer up a bevy of goods through an aptly-titled “LUNAR NEW YEAR” collection.
The assortment — encompassing womenswear, menswear and accessories — is cloaked in shades of black and red, the latter of which represents “fortune, good luck and joy” as a nod to one of the most familiar colors of the Chinese New Year bash. Graphics featuring signature Off-White™ insignia, like arrows and quotation marks, are printed onto the brand’s usual wares of hoodies, crewnecks, T-shirts and jeans, mashing with quirky illustrations of rats in order to pay homage to this year’s spotlighted zodiac symbol. Meanwhile, pink floral imagery adds a lighthearted touch throughout the womenswear, depicting “wealth, longevity and pure beauty.”
“GOOD LUCK” also serves as a prominent phrase, marking several items throughout the apparel and accessory ranges. Styles like scarves, wallets, leather bags and socks are stamped with the well wishes, while classic bucket hats are imprinted with a hand graphic and a simple “OFF” text for a final hit of branding.
Browse the lookbook above to check out Off-White™’s “Lunar New Year” collection, and expect the capsule to arrive on January 8 at Farfetch, Off-White™’s website and Off-White™ retail stores.
Elsewhere for the Italian label, coral red was the colorway of choice for one of its latest pieces, coating one of its signature Flap Bags with the bold hue.
