'Joker' Leads 2020 BAFTA With 11 Nominations

The list of nominees for the 73rd BAFTA is here as Joker leads the pack with a total of 11 nods from the British Academy.

The Todd Phillips film is up for categories like Best Film, Leading Actor for Joaquin Phoenix, Director for Todd Phillips, Original Score, Cinematography and Makeup & Hair. Following the psychological thriller are Quentin Tarantino‘s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Martin Scorsese‘s The Irishman with 10 nods apiece, while Sam Mendes’ war epic 1917 moves through with nine. All four movies are fighting for the coveted Best Film award alongside Bong Joon-ho’s Cannes winner Parasite, which is also gunning for Director, Original Screenplay, and Film Not In The English Language.

Other nominees include Rian Johnson‘s whodunit hit Knives Out, Taika Waititi‘s Jojo Rabbit, The Two Popes and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. This year’s awards ceremony will also honor revered producer and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy with the BAFTA Fellowship for her “outstanding achievement in the art forms of the moving image,” along with the debut of the ceremony’s newest award category, Best Casting.
