Lil Yachty & Sada Baby Unite for Trap Anthem "SB5"
Presumably recorded during the sessions for Lil Boat’s planned ‘D to the A’ mixtape.
Last summer, Lil Yachty made a surprise announcement by revealing plans for a D to the A mixtape, a project based on his 2017 collaboration alongside Tee Grizzley titled “From the D to the A.” He further clarified that Grizzley would be involved, as well as a variety of other Detroit and Atlanta rappers such as Sada Baby and Drego & Beno. While that project never came to fruition following his announcement, presumably as Yachty became been bogged down by the creation of his third album Lil Boat 3, what has released is a new single and video alongside Sada titled “SB5.”
Most likely recorded during the planned sessions for D to the A, the track was initially teased by Yachty last year following the announcement plans. Tapping into a creeping backdrop filled with reduced 808s and a smacking synth melody, the instrumental brings out the best in both rappers. Exuding street poetics throughout, Boat and Sada speak on the dangers of trapping, drugs, fashion, and more. The video follows the trap anthem’s aural aesthetic, with the two surrounded by a posse in a home, vibing out as they flaunt their fits, money, ice, and more.
