YOSHI Drops Lookbook-Tinged Visual For "RIDING ON TIME"
The Japanese model-turned-rapper’s latest video offering.
16-year-old Japanese model-turned-rapper YOSHI has released a new music video for “RIDING ON TIME,” a highlight off the young artist’s debut album, SEX IS LIFE. Originally recognized for his fashion sense, Virgil Abloh scouted the youngster when he was just 13, since appearing in a variety of campaigns for some of the world’s most notorious imprints.
Within the new video, YOSHI can be seen combining his love for music and fashion, turning the visual into a lookbook-like offering. He skirts around in his neighborhood on a BMX bike, decked out in designer gear from archive Raf Simons pieces to Acne Studios, Jean Paul Gaultier and more. The track itself samples legendary soft rock artist Tatsuro Yamashita and his chart-peaking 1980 track “Ride on Time,” whereby an eclectic mix of hard and soft sound cues push YOSHI’s playful lyricism forward.
