Latest 'Rebuild of Evangelion' Teaser Showcases a New Third Impact
The lines between reimaging and sequel have begun to blur.
Following the debut of its first 10 minutes alongside a series counterpart getting re-released on Netflix, a new teaser for Evangelion 3.0+1.0 has surfaced. Creator Hideaki Anno‘s Rebuild of Evangelion is expected to debut next year, ending the decade-long film franchise. Originally a faithful adaptation of the original Neon Genisis Evangelion series, the films have begun to drastically go off course of the story. Instead, the film appears to be a soft sequel/reboot of the series, following the conclusion of The End of Evangelion.
The short teaser above isn’t too lengthy, offering very little in terms of plot points. However, we do see several shots that harken back to the original series, and more than a few newer shots, all scored to a remix to Evangelion’s “Jikai Yokoku.”
Check out the footage above and watch Evangelion 3.0+1.0 when it arrives in June 2020 in Japan.
