A Secret 'Shenmue' Punch Has Been Discovered 20 Years Later
Dubbed “Shin Shōryūken.”
20 years after Shenmue was released for the Sega Dreamcast, fans are still discovering more secrets in the iconic expansive action-adventure game.
Recently Japanese gamer nullpo posted a video on Shenmue fan site PhantomRiverStone revealing an attack that has been hidden in the game’s code all this time. A tribute to Street Fighter, the “Shin Shōryūken” Punch was placed in the game by the developers at Sega AM2 as an homage to the move used by classic characters Ken and Ryu. Apparently, the attack can only be accessed after some tweaks to the game’s source code.
Check out the recently discovered secret Shenmue Shin Shōryūken Punch above. For those who would like to experience the move, you can download the tweaks and a game save that prompts the fight where the move is used on PhantomRiverStone.
