Netflix Drops Full Trailer for 'The Naked Director'
Taking us inside the Japanese adult film industry.
After sharing a teaser earlier this month, Netflix has now dropped a full-length trailer for its new series, The Naked Director.
Taking us inside the Japanese adult film industry, The Naked Director is based on the true story and ventures of adult filmmaker Toru Muranishi.
Muranishi was considered a controversial figure in the country for trying revolutionize Japan’s porn industry. Set during the ’80s economic boom, the show chronicles the director’s rise to fame, his ambitions, and his setbacks. The Netflix Originals series will star Takayuki Yamada (Isle of Dogs), Shinnosuke Mitsushima (The Big White Tower), and Tetsuji Tamayama (The Vulture). Watch the full trailer above.
Netflix also shared an official summary which can be read below:
“The 10 episode series will chronicle his rise to fame, filled with big ambitions as well as spectacular setbacks in his unflinching attempt to turn Japan’s porn industry on its head. It will also be a portrait of an ensemble of characters who experience success and failure in Japan’s “bubble” era of the 1980s, a time that gave rise to unprecedented splendor and excess.”
All 10-episodes of The Naked Director premieres on Netflix August 8.
