Timed appropriately for the upcoming NBA Draft, FILA has unveiled a special-edition of its Spoiler footwear to honor lifetime brand ambassador Grant Hill. Dubbed the “Draft Day” sneaker, the shoe takes from Hill’s big moment in 1994 when he was selected third overall in the draft by the Detroit Pistons and his partnership with the brand first began.
As this year marks the 25th anniversary of Hill entering the league, FILA pulled in design elements from the actual outfit that he was wearing when first drafted into the league. The green print from his tie gets reinterpreted onto the strap closure and insole of the shoe, which is crafted of white leather while black overlays bring contrast. Meanwhile, “FILA” logos are stamped in several places, adding branding to the tongue, toe area and heel.
“When I got off to that hot start in my professional career, right out of the gate, I was wearing the Spoiler. This is the shoe that started the journey for me and the release brings back a lot of wonderful memories,” Hill said.
The FILA Spoiler x Grant Hill “Draft Day” is limited to just 94 pairs and priced at $90. Shop it now at FILA’s webstore and watch Hill reflect on the sneaker in the video below.
