Fresh from dropping Paris Saint-Germain’s new training kit, Nike Football has now officially unveiled the home jersey that will be worn by Italian club AS Roma for the 2019/20 season. The new home kit comes in Roma’s classic dark red color palette, which is offset by a lightning bolt detail around the collar and sleeves.

The lightning bolt was chosen for its association with the Roman god of the sky, Jupiter, showing the kit’s Roman mythology influence. Speaking about the design, Nike Football apparel senior design director Pete Hoppins explained that “Roman mythology and its influence on Roman identity played a huge part in the concept. This year, Jupiter was our focus, and the lightning bolt was an obvious and powerful symbol to use.”

The new AS Roma home kit — which also features red shorts and white socks — is set to release via the Nike web store on May 23. The men’s team will wear the kit for the first time on May 26.
