NEPENTHES New York Joins Suicoke for Collaborative Seasonal Slip-Ons
Slide sandals and transformable laceless shoes.
NEPENTHES NEW YORK rejoins Suicoke for a trio of exclusive footwear models. Launching in time for warming weather, a duo of transformable shoes and a slide sandal offer muted colors and playful accents.
Two bespoke models have been designed for the release: the RAC shoe and URICH slide sandal. While the URICH may resemble Suicoke’s normal KAW model at first bush, several key characteristics distinguish the new silhouette. Most notably, a beefy ergonomic footbed lends weight to the sandal, with a sturdier forefoot strap yielding a more aggressive military motif. The strap also adds holes for ventilation, with a slightly slimmed-down profile over the KAWS, which aids in counterbalancing the outsole.
Meanwhile the RAC recalls classic hiking sneakers, with blue- or earth-toned variations both sporting identical features. These include weather-resistant nubuck toeboxes, an adjustable heel strap, a grippy rubber outsole and a breathable bootie inner. The bootie can be removed; worn independently, the liner becomes a water shoe and the RAC body essentially becomes a clog.
Both of the collaborative Suicoke footwear is available on NEPENTHES Japan’s web store, with the RAC shoes weighing in at ¥19,000 JPY (approximately $170 USD) while the URICH sandal retails for ¥12,000 JPY (approximately $110 USD). No word on a domestic release just yet.
