Big K.R.I.T. Aims to Promote Positivity with His New Video for "Energy"
“I have been blessed to share positive energy with so many people.”
Following a relatively quiet and laidback 2018, Big K.R.I.T. decided to jump-start his musical onslaught for this year by blending together a series of surprise EPs — including the Thrice X EP he dropped in November of last year — to create the TDT project, providing listeners with a unique take on the traditional compilation formula. Now, continuing to support that effort’s music, the down-south lyricist is releasing a new visual for its striking opening salvo “Energy.”
“It’s important more then ever to show the positive energy of life,” Big K.R.I.T. shared with Complex, breaking down the themes of his new, child.-directed clip for “Energy” and the motivations behind its creation. “The coming together of generations and the giving of knowledge. There’s so much power in community and fellowship. I have been blessed to share positive energy with so many people [throughout] my career. Although negativity is everywhere we must feed our souls with the positivity around us.”
In past interviews for the press run that supported his most recent studio album, Big K.R.I.T. also expressed similarly-positive sentiments when reflecting on the fulfillment that’s provided by the current stages of his career.
“It builds a certain amount of confidence that people, you know, can always expect me to do my best and always try to grow and to not conform and fit into whatever the latest trend might be, either. People don’t necessarily come to me or listen to my music for that. I think they enjoy that I’m going to give them something a little different,” K.R.I.T. told the Jackson Free Press last April.
