Towards the end of 2018, Rucci decided to close out his biggest year yet by dropping a full-length project titled For My Dawgz. Comprised of 14 tracks, For My Dawgz is a compilation of cuts that were created during the studio sessions that produced Rucci’s upcoming studio album, but didn’t end up on that LP’s final tracklist. Now, revisiting the rollout for that release, Rucci revisits the single that precedes For My Dawgz‘s arrival for a new music video. Specifically, the Inglewood lyricist reconnects with his close visual collaborator Mr. Real Movie for the “Till The Day I Die” vignette.

“With my shit, I’m bringing back that original West Coast sound,” Rucci told us in May of 2018. “It’s that 90s shit, but still has that swag with it. I’m still talking about the culture and day-to-day shit, but mixed with that gangsta shit. It’s like that fly gang-banging shit, but on a whole other level now.”

“The music I’m making now, I’m talking shit but I’m talking it in a calmer way — like RBL Posse-type shit mixed with some Bone Thugs shit, but then tapping in to my Hispanic side,” Rucci added during an exchange with us last December, opening up about his forthcoming That’s Norf project and his current approach to making music. ”When Master P first came out, his sound was so universal … I think people are going to love it, it’s going to be like when Snoop Dogg dropped Doggystyle. It’s gonna go viral.”

You can check out Rucci’s new, Mr. Real Movie-directed video for “Till The Day I Die” above, and expect more details concerning That’s Norf to emerge in the near future.

Last month, Rucci also teamed up with Austin the Pacman and Self Provoked for “Dippin.”
